Foz do Iguazu - day 2

Written Monday 5 May

I got a pic of a toucan!!! Finally! My wildlife photo collection is now complete (excl. jaguar but hey ho), so happy! We were unbelievably lucky, today was our last chance to see and photograph a toucan - saw quite a few in the Pantanal but they either flew off or were too hidden by branches to get a decent snap - so had serious neck cramp by the end of the day from keeping an eye out. Got into the van fairly disheartened when they were a no show, then 2 mins later our driver slowed down and pointed to the top of a tree...TOUCAN! Made him stop and let us out of the car to get the pic I've been waiting for since arriving in Brazil. Totally psyched!

The toucan was the cherry on the top of an epic day, crossed the border to Argentina to get a look at the falls from the other side and oh.my.god. I've got photos of course but they really don't do it justice. Have a vid too which I'll load when I can but even so don't think anything can beat standing there and being completely mesmerised by the beauty, the roar of the foaming water and the splashback rising from plunge pools almost as high as the cascades themselves.

We also spent most of the day walking and on our feet which made a nice change from sitting in a bus. Having said that, we've got 12-13 hours worth of travel tomorrow...2 planes and a 6 hour bus transfer, blah. And I've run out of book :( Heading to Paraty, which is aptly named as this is where the long awaited booze cruise is waiting!
